Notes: | |
a) For each reduction of 0.01% below the specified maximum carbon content, an increase of 0.05% above the specified maximum manganese content is permissible, up to a maximum of 1.50% for Grades X42 through X52, up to a maximum of 1.65% for grades higher than X52 but less than X70, and up to 2.00% for grades X70 and higher. |
b) Columbium ( niobium ), vanadium, titanium, or combinations thereof may be used by agreement between the purchaser and manufacturer, and the sum of these shall not exceed 0.15%. |
c) Columbium ( niobium ), vanadium, titanium, or combinations thereof may be used at the discretion of the manufacturer, and the sum of these shall not exceed 0.15%. |
d) Other chemical compositions may be furnished by agreement between purchaser and manufacturer, provided that the sum of columbium ( niobium ), vanadium, titanium or combinations shall not exceed 0.15%, and the tabular limits for phosphorus and sulfur are met. |
e) U.S Customary Unit Equation : e= 625,000 X ( A0.2 / U0.4 ) SI Unit equation : e= 1,944 X ( A0.2 / U0.9 ) Where : e = minimum elongation in 2in. ( 50.8mm ) in percent rounded to the nearest percent. A = applicable tensile test specimen area, as follows : I) For both sizes of round bar specimens, 0.20in.2 ( 130 mm2 ) II) For full section specimens, the smaller of (i) 0.75in.2 ( 485 mm2 ) and (ii) the cross sectional area of the test specimen, calculated using the specified outside diameter of the pipe and the specified wall thickness of the pipe, rounded to the nearest 0.01in2 ( 10 mm2 ). III) For strip specimens, the smaller of (i) 0.75in.2 ( 485 mm2 ) and (ii) the cross sectional area of the test specimen, calculated using the specified width of the test specimen and the specific wall thickness of the pipe, rounded to the nearest 0.001in2 (10mm2) U = specific minimum ultimate tensile strength in psi (Mpa) |
f) For PSL 2, maximum yield strength for an immediate grade shall be the next maximum for the next higher listed grade.
g) For PSL 2, maximum yield strength for Grade B pipe in sizes subject to longitudinal testing is 72 ksi ( 496 MPa )
h) For PSL 2, for wall thickness greater than 0.984in ( 25.0 mm ), the maximum yield strength shall be determined by agreement between the purchaser and the manufacturer. |
